Chain rotators make the secondary processing work of structural fabrication shops easier, safer and cheaper. When clips and other features and details need to be welded, drilled, coped etc., the chain rotator saves time and money. These Structural Beam Rotating Machines are designed to safely lift and rotate the beam to an accessible and comfortable position while these secondary processes are being performed. Moving these structural chain rotators throughout the shop is easy with accessible lifting points to allow them to be repositioned in the shop for better accessibility and varying beam lengths.

Structural Steel: Rotating and Turning

Rotating Structural Steel has long been a part of structural fabrication. While it is necessary to rotate the beams to all sides for access for further processing such as welding, drilling, layout and coping operations (among a few) the struggle has been how to rotate these large segments safely. While in the past forklifts were used, it was quickly seen that this was a dangerous operation with beams slipping and dropping off of the forks. The next solution was the use of overhead cranes, however today's busy fabrication steel plants simply can’t afford to have costly overhead cranes tied up for hours while attending to just one simple operation. Thus there had to be another way to safely lift, rotate and support he heaviest of structural steel components for manual processing, enter the Bendmak ZR series of Beam Rotators

Chain Rotator Machine Construction

Structural Steel chain rotators consist of a pair of independently quad-driven heavy duty supports built out of strong plate and tubular steel components. The Bendmak design comprises a frame, housing, chain drive system, electrical panel and remote controlled operator unit and provides the best structural protection for the operator, simplicity in design and longevity of the unit itself.

Designed with powerful gearbox driven sprocket drives rotating a dual link chain they can rotate even the heaviest of beams weighing up to 20 Tons. Coupled with the capability to lift & rotate beams, angle, flats, pipe and many other shapes, clockwise or counterclockwise precisely, the beam rotator can correctly position even the heaviest of pieces for detail work.

Chain Rotator Operation

Operating the Beam Rotator is a simple task with a durable wired remote. The fabricator simply chooses to lift or rotate one, or both stands to properly place the beam in the correct position for further processing while it is safely held in the cradle of the dual link chain. The remote pendant is wired through a durable 16’ Cable allowing the operator to access controls from the working area of the structural component being rotated.
